Rangatahi Festival.

On the  9th of November, 2018 the Red Hill School performances group went to Rangatahi. It was held at Kereru Park Campus.

Back at school I was so nervous about Rangatahi. The Pacific girls dressed up beautifully and the boys were handsome as well. We put on our dresses and combed out our hairs. We took our bags and went to the hall for a Korea with Miss Castle before we went. After the Korea we stood up and walked to the bus. It was hard for the girls to walk because the wind kept blowing up our dresses. We got into the bus and off we go. Finally we got to Kereru Park Campus. We saw the stage and crowd cheering happily at the kids on stage. We went to our dressing room and put on our flower bands and our necklaces . We practiced some of our moves just in case. The Junior/Senior Pacific Groups were ready to perform. The Junior Pacific was amazing.  They shook their bottoms their hardest and it was AWESOME.

After the Junior Pacific group’s were done, it was time to the Senior Pacific group’s for them to shine. The lady introduced us and we walked up with confidence on our hands. We got to positions and we all smiled. Some of the audience were grumpy but I didn’t care. The DJ played our first song and the girls nailed it. I smiled and shook my bottom and dance happily. When it comes to the lakalaka song, Te-vita and Len ( tulafale) went to the front and shouted. It was a fun day for everyone.

Then it was Kapa Haka turn. They almost blew of the whole tent.
After our performances I went to find my mum. I saw her standing with my cousins. They were doing a Tongan dance. After Rangatahi we went back to school and changed. We went to the hall and had a korero with the teachers. They said that they loved our performances. Some of them cried. Then I went home and slept.
